Peculiarity

I have just realised that I have a rather weird peculiarity. Don't know if I am using the right word to describe it. Yesterday, something really funny and weird happened.

You see... I usually associate people(and as such recognise people) through the cars they drive. So, if you change car... I won't be able to recognise you at all. And so... please do not think I am snobbish. It is not my intention to ignore you but I just can't recognise you because of the change of car.

And now back to yesterday's story. The friendship between Uncle Steven and I goes back... I think 3-4 years? When I started work in KL town and taking the train to work. Nothing romantic. He's a church member. Rather stern head of ministry (DEW crew). He's married to one wife, Ivy, and has 2 sons. I kinda got used to having company taking the train to work. He's the one who got me addicted to reading books in the train. And sometimes, we will meet at the train platform to go take the train back to Bukit Jalil (planned and unplanned).

Our usual meeting point if to go home has always been the left side of the platform. I never have any problem identifying him from the crowd at the left platform(though if he drives a different car on the street, I will not be able to recognise him at all... and I know 'coz I have scolded him many times for being such a slow driver, not knowing it is him =D)

One of the days last week... (I think... or the week before last..hmmm...), he said to take the left staircase to the right platform. And I ran and rushed... and I could not find him. Thinking that I could have mistaken his instruction... I walked all the way down to the left platform and still no sign of him. And I called him... he said that he was at the right platform standing right in front of the staircase so that I will not miss him... But then I didn't see him at all. Seriously. Well, I dismissed it and blamed it on stress.

Yesterday... both of us have got to attend a meeting in church. I got him to sms me before he leaves... to serve a reminder to myself that I have to leave work ASAP to attend the meeting. And he did sms me (God bless him), saying right platform and I was rushing out from the office. When I reached the right platform, I saw the train coming but I did not see him. Automatically, I started searching for him by walking towards the left platform. The train doors opened and closed and the train left... I was frantic 'coz we are going to be late. I took out the phone to call him and saw his message "Where are you? I really got to go."

I called him... and he was in the train that left =((

So... my conclusion... I associated Uncle Steven with left side of the platform and such... I can only identify him if he's at the left platform. 2 times is not a coincidence. Anyway... told Uncle Steven about my conclusion and his reply was "think next time we stick to our usual side ya." I concur with him totally! =D
