Meng Ngau

In case you are wondering "what kind of title is that? what does it mean? has lina gone off her mind?" Well... you will be able to understand after reading the rest of this posting.

Well, it was one non-stormy night... no thunder... no rain... no lightning... save and except for the shouting of this girl in a car (I don't think it can be heard on the outside... thank God!), "Ooi! You know how to drive or not ar? Drive so slow for what??!!! You think your grandfather's road ar? Do you know that I am late for a meeting??!! Get out of my way! Mooove it!" Ahem... *shy* hehe... that was me running late for Leaders' meeting in church on tuesday night.

Anyway, I arrived church at about 8.45pm (meeting started at 8pm), SP had started talking and I squeezed myself in (together with other latecomers, an uncle and 3 aunties from PJN3. Hahahaha... I was not the only one...)

Ok ok... SP was talking about the importance of prayer and then he embarked on to say "I hope all of you are fasting with me. I have announced last leaders' meeting about fasting and praying from March 1st to 8th for the election. And I went *gasps*. Flashback to saturday during mission conference on March 1st ...

It was lunch time and SP was going from table to table to greet and talk to everyone. Came to my table... me as usual in my polite self (yes... I am a very polite person... when I am not late for meetings) said this to him-

"Pastor Daniel, come join us for lunch. Please take a seat" (I was patting the seat next to me)
"No, it's ok. You go ahead"
"No, Pastor Daniel. Please take a pack of this rice. We have many more packets here" (I was trying to shove into his hands a pack of rice =p)
"No, I am ok. You please go ahead" And he politely say bye to everyone and left for another table. Probably in his mind thinking "That girl... ask her to fast... not only is she not fasting... trying to make me break my fast!"

Dung dung... me... a real dung dung... sigh... I am fasting now lor... since yesterday. I really do feel bad. I used to fast at least twice a week (when I was working in HY) but I have not done so since I started work here. Daddy... sorry.

Next... back to the Leaders' meeting again. SP went on to say that he attended the ceramah in subang on monday and how good it was etc etc... And he said Hannah's good and how a pastor (I think her church's pastor) went up on the stage and vouch for her (or something like that). He then commented "I wonder when I will get the chance to do that."

There can be 2 interpretations to that-

(1) My interpretation... he wonders when he will get the chance to be up on stage campaigning as a politician.

(2) Some other people's interpretation... he wonders when he will get the chance to be up on stage vouching for one of his church members.

I was totally oblivious about the 2nd interpretation until when we were walking out from the hall... some uncles and aunties came and smile to me knowingly and patted me on the shoulder and said "Meng Ngau?" (that's foo chow for "When?")

And that came to me in the beginning as 1 interpretation for the "Meng Ngau?"('coz most of them saw me running around like a headless chicken on sunday for paul and em's wedding)... "Meng Ngau Kieh huong/kah win?" i.e. "when getting married?" Sorry lar... my foo chow's really bad...

I knew I was not heading the same direction as them when they said "We will support you one... lawyers always do good politician. Pastor Daniel waiting for young people like you to be willing so that he will have the chance..." something like that lar... it's all in foo chow. And as usual, I pretended I did not understand and gave them a "me-no-understand-foo-chow" smile and changed subject rapidly.

Sigh... so... comprehende? No... good. Keep it up =D
